My beautiful Mom as a Young Woman
Well, inspired by two friends, I am going to try my hand at this blogging thing. My inspiration for this first blog is something that has been a major part of my life for the last year, one month, and one day. The memories of my beautiful, wonderful Mother. I was very lucky to have had her as a mom, and to have had her as long as I did. Forty-eight years. I am not sure which is worse; to have lost a mom at a young age with only a few memories, or at an older age with many, many memories. My mother was humble, smart, talented, loving, stern at times, an awesome cook, giving, and more. She gave of herself to her family, relatives, friends, and strangers. She was also a very faithful woman of God. There is no doubt in my mind that on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at around 6:45 am, she was at the Gates of Heaven being welcomed in.
She taught me to cook, clean, do laundry, to knit, and how to be a good person. I may not have always gone by her "rules" but I knew right from wrong. I want to be a charitable person like she was. She knit hats for newborn babies and blankets. She knit prayer shawls for the elderly and those who were terminally ill. She did a lot of volunteer work over the years for various organizations.
My mother was a Proverbs 31 woman. Read Proverbs 31:9-31 I like verse 25; "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. 26; "She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. 27; She watches over the affairs of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness."
Someday, I hope I can be half the woman she was. I just want to make her proud of me one day and be the kind of person people can say, "I see a lot of her mother in her".
Okay, it's a start. It's a learning process here, so be patient. I'll definitely have to get tips from the pros!!!
